Review - PJ Masks to the rescue! Activity Book

We as a family go through a lot of activity books and magazines with our children so I thought it was about time I started reviewing some of them for you fellow parents. This particular book we bought from our local Sainsbury's for a discounted price of £2.99. The main selling point for this one is that it has 3 'press out and make' vehicles. Now as you know I am a keen crafter so a couple of cardboard vehicles shouldn't really be an issue, especially as the target audience for this magazine are young children, 3 plus according to the book itself. So my 3 and 5 year olds and I shouldn't have found this an issue...in theory. The card itself was relatively sturdy and the scored part enabling us to pop the parts out, were better than most I have seen. But that is where the praise ends I am afraid. It suggested using glue, so off my excited son went to get the PVA, but the design is unsuitable for just PVA and the parts were very fiddly. After the kids lost interest which is uncommon of the 5 year old, I resorted to sellotape and taped 2 of the vehicles up. I personally didn't even bother with the 3rd vehicle as the kids weren't very impressed and I had wasted too much time on my own putting together a PJ mask vehicle.

Cardboard cutouts aside, the rest of the book lacked content. It had a few educational activities but not as many has I would have expected. The purpose of these books from my point of view is to do an activity with my children which is fun and educational. Though the book wasn't expensive, I wouldn't recommend this to anyone else, because for us it wasn't fit for purpose. We didn't work on the vehicles together, because they were too complicated for my children and they lost interest. If I was to score it out of 10 I would only give it a 4 but only due to the good quality of the print and that it had some educational value, other than that, it wasn't something I would recommend to others .
