HOW TO MAKE PERSONALISED CANDLES
So all you parents out there will know that kids like to make things as gifts, especially at times such as Mothering Sunday, Easter, Fathering Sunday etc. But the standard drawing can get a little tiresome for the grandparents to receive several times a year. So instead why not pop your little person's art onto a candle.? All you need is a budding artist, felt tips, a few napkins, a church candle which is about £1/£2 in most supermarkets.
So first you're little creative buddy will need to draw a masterpiece onto tissue paper.
You will then need to cut the tissue to size to fit around the candle and then wrap the tissue around the candle.
You then have 2 options.
Option 1 is to hold a hairdryer to the candle on the warmest setting, melting the wax through the tissue paper to seal it onto the candle.
This is the safer of the 2 options but it can be very time consuming.
The 2nd option is to use an iron. Wrap grease proof paper/baking paper around the candle so the tissue is between the candle and the grease proof paper and hold it tight around the candle.
Then pop your iron on a relatively low setting and quickly run this over the candle melting the wax. This is much quicker but can be fiddly and dangerous if you aren't careful. I also recommend putting something on the worktop to catch any dripping wax.
Once all the parts of the tissue paper are sealed by the wax it is finished.
