Handcrafted Me - Craft & Art Workshops

Age 7 to 12 years.

Structure of Day

First activity 9:30 - The Kitchen Raid!

Make your own paint and Play Doh from kitchen ingredients.

Be prepared for a rainy day by utilising what you would find in your own kitchen. This teaches children traditional methods and will show them that you don't have to always buy supplies from the shops. We will learn about mixing and colours.

We will also begin to think about how we can use our creations for after the break!

Break at 11:00

Activity 2 - Stop Motion Animation!

The children will learn how movies like the lego movie and classics like the nightmare before Christmas were created. They may even get to experience my childhood classic - Trap door! (a kids tv show from 1986)

Using story boards, the children will come up with a 1-minute story they would like to create using the play doh and paint they made before the break.

They will create props and backgrounds. They will create characters with their play doh and think of character movements before using the camera.

In groups they will prepare a video by taking many photos and then playing them as an animation.

Children will discover movement and begin to understand planning scenes. All Videos will be emailed to parents after the event.

Additional props such as Lego and cars will also be available to give the children a helping hand.

We will break at 13:00 for lunch.

Afternoon session 13:45

The afternoon session may require a continuation from the morning session depending on how far the children progressed with it.

14:15 Final session: Table Top Football!

The children will create a tabletop football pitch using a shoebox, pegs and craft supplies. This will be to celebrate the new football season and the Women's world cup, where hopefully we are still cheering on England!

15:30 - pick up and stop motion showcase!

At pick up parents will be able to see their children's fabulous videos.

Lunchtime hour also to include board games/ colouring/ table football which we have available at KWMCC.
